The Getchell Building, home of the Nobel H. Getchell Library from 1962-2008, is scheduled to begin demolition at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, December 19, 2013, bringing closure to an epoch in library history at the University.
Facilities Services staff worked with local Masons to extricate the time capsule that had been housed in Getchell’s cornerstone since September 10, 1961. After a Mason opened the copper time capsule, its contents were delivered to University Archives last week. An exhibit featuring items from the capsule is now displayed on the second floor breezeway of the Knowledge Center outside the Sierra Pacific Room.
